Teaching at the School

Every Monday to Friday morning the girls teach English and Mathematics to children in a local school. They teach in pairs, Emma with Lucy and Kerry with Alex. They plan their lessons the night before, using all the resources available at our volunteer house and the school. It is creative, fun and the children are always eager to learn.
Above is Alex with her picture cards in a small group.
Lucy and Emma have got them all concentrating so hard!
Lucy: "My favourite part of everyday is definitely the teaching. The children at the school are so happy to see us when we arrive every morning. During the lessons they often try very hard to impress us and fight for front seats! I enjoy everyday and come back to the volunteer house in a great mood"

Above are Kerry and Alex doing animal actions as a bit of fun for the kids, they loved it!
Kerry: "Teaching is fantastic and will give me great experience as I want to be a teacher. It is lovely entering the school everyday to see the children so happy to see us and so glad that we are giving them the tools to develop their English"
Emma in front of her class.
Emma: "We have more than twenty kids in our class but they are so well behaved and we get a perfect balance between concentrated work and colouring. It is lovely to watch them rapidly improve on each topic!"
The girls start their lessons with a good morning song with the kids, and end with a goodbye song! The children call the girls 'Didi' which means big sister!
It is always lovely going to the school and the girls are looking forward to going in the morning once again!
